comfortably, regardless of age, income, or ability level

planning for today...and
our future selves

Are you or a family member planning to stay in your home or explore other housing options in the community as you age? This decision and accompanying strategic process can be exciting and overwhelming. There are many considerations that will  support your  planning and help to ensure that your home  and environment offer comfort, function,  safety, and accessibility - now and in the years ahead.
building wellness through our home and community environment
Each of us is aging...
  • One in three Americans is now 50 or older; by 2030, one in five will be 65+
  • For the first time in history, there will be more older adults than children  and there will most likely be over 130,000 centenarians!
Universal design features in our home environment and  access to resources in the community that support healthy aging across the lifespan.

ideas and inspiration

Please reach out here, or below, to learn more about:
  • Home modifications that create aesthetically enriching, functional, safe, and accessible space. In New England, much of the housing stock is older and there are often outdated features that challenge the livability of a home, for all ages.  Modifications range from small changes with furniture layout to  flooring changes, kitchen and bathroom enhancements, and consideration of assistive technologies.
  • Home renovation  plans that  incorporate timeless, adaptive features and livable layouts for homeowners and visitors. The planning phase of a home renovation project is an ideal time to evaluate the benefits of age friendly features, such as a first floor bedroom, that will enhance your home now and in the future.
  • Accessory dwelling unit design that considers your existing home's features and local zoning ordinance to determine potential for your to create a secondary living unit  within your primary house, or as a detached unit.
  • Home assessments that evaluate the interior footprint of the home and exterior features to identify safety and accessibility concerns.  A customized plan will document actions for reducing risks and barriers, while enhancing comfort and function.  The plan provides a collaborative foundation for pricing and scheduling proposed  modifications with local building contractors.
  •  Customized resource suggestions within the service network funded by the Older Americans Act and local organizations that support aging in place, in your home and community.
